So i have a few red drives ranging from 8tb to 6tb, they are very new made in feb. Not a one of them works in a recently purchased my book 10tb that iv removed the drive from. The 8tb came from a NAS my cloud home duo, it works perfectly directly inside of the desktop but when plugged in through the usb it gives an initialize error. I have tried all solutions to this, from changing the cords and even trying it on different laptops, windows, android and linux. updating bio and updating the firmware on the usb drive. The drive itself works fantastic when i plug a 6tb or 3tb green or blue drive into it. So all items are in perfect working order separate but for some reason they do not work together. Now i am seeing the my book duo has red drives shipped with them? Can anyone explain why a wd product isnt compatible with itself? or maybe there is a trick into getting the single drives to work with a red? i seen before they changed the look on the my book they once shipped with red drives. I have a first gen and that also didnt work. Is there something im not seeing? Any help would be great, thanx…
Update on my issues here. I got a my book duo with the 3.1 usb so its the newest they offer. They do indeed come with red drives and i can plug the 8tb drives into this one and it works. Still no solution for them to work in the single drives.
