When I delete files or folders from my My Passport Ultra, I am asked whether I want to send them to the recycle bin. Is there in fact a recycle bin on the drive, or are these things being deleted completely? I can’t see any recycle bin on the menus.

Windows will send the files to its own recycle bin until you safely remove the drive.
