Recover data from erased protected drive

Hi

I put a password on my WD passport a while ago. Several days ago my sister tries to unlock it, after several try she chose to erase WD passport so she can use it. All I want to know is that is there any way to bring back my files ( with my password) or not? Does “erasing a drive” write zeros on it or it simply unlock it for write? Is there any think I can do to access my files?

Best Regards

Hi, the erase from the WD Software will erase the drive as a quick format from Windows would, you may try to use a data recovery software or contact a professional data recovery company.

I forgot the password after transferring every single document, file, picture, video, etc… to my new WD portable and removing them from my laptop. I google’d, bing’d, read through hacker forums, and asked different local companies if it was possible and it was a unanimous NO.

I decided to email the companies that WD has listed for data recovery services for quotes knowing it wasn’t going to be cheap. The cheapest one came in at 700.00 but most were in the 1300.00 range, no guarantees either. I thankfully had put all the files in my One Drive and transferred from there to the portable because they were uploaded to my one drive live account automatically. I hope you get lucky like I did…
