Oka, so, I know that this has probably been asked quite a few times around here, but, yeah, I too forgot my password. Long story short, I set it abotu two months ago, didn’t use the drive at all and today I found out that I just don’t remember my pass and don’t have it written down anywhere.
Is it still impossible to recover the password somehow? Like, just, no way at all? If so, I would like to ask another question - if I erase the whole disk, would I be able to recover the erased data using some data recovery tool such as EaseUS? I have got about 250GB of personal photos/videos on my drive and I really, really can’t afford loosing even a byte from those. I would even wait for years until some solution is found.
If that helps, I do remember my password partly, since I have set a password hint. I really hate myself for not writing it down. Any help would be very, very appreciated as I feel so desperate right now.
Excuse me if I am bringing up a topic, which is well-exhausted.
Yeah, I see. I was hoping for some new information on the topic.
Well, has anyone received help from the WD support staff with this problem?
I realize that security is a top-priority, but it must be possible through some help from WD support
to recover a lost password. I mean, come on, obviously a lot of people make the silly mistake of forgetting their pass.
I have issued a case and I hope for a positive answer this week. I do believe I remember about 80% of my password, but I must have put some dumb digits at the beginning/end. Maybe this could help them, i don’t know, but it would be absurd if I loose all my data just like that. I am more inclined to not use the drive at all untill a solution is found instead of erasing all…
