Question about upgrading a My Book Pro

I have a pair of My Book Pros with 12TB each. I see WDC now offers a Gold Enterprise-Class Hard Drive up to 12TB. So I’m wondering if I could get a pair of these 12TB drives to equal 24TB in a singe My Book Pro, and if so, I plan to get a second pair as I make a mirror copy of my first My Book Pro to my 2nd. Does anyone know if this would be compatible?

Hi imdjluis,

We would suggest to use WD Black™ hard drives to replace the drives in My Book Pro
device enclosure. Also, replacement drives must be new and the same capacity as the RAID configurations require both drives to be the same capacity.

You may refer manual of My Book Pro on page #24 for more details.

So you’re saying I can’t just replace one with a 12TB, for example, to equal 18TB, instead, I need to replace both drives at the same time with the exact same size? And looks like the Black drive only goes up to 6TB, which would make no difference for me to upgrade to. I was hoping to upgrade to a pair of 12TB Gold drives. Will a pair of those not work?
