My CFexpress Pro Reader will not allow me to use the “safely remove…” option in Windows 10 22H2. I can’t even stop the device via settings or with the device manager. I have to shutdown to safely remove the cards. I am using San Disk Extreme Pro cards. Other forum posts think it is due to the reader identifying as a disk drive for speed. It is extremely fast. I routinely see transfers above 85GB/min. Is there a way to get them to be safe to remove without shutting down?
Hi @stevel ,
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the SD Technical Support team for best assistance and troubleshooting:
I am late due to a bad cold. I have not opened a ticket but now know the problem is in Windows. I was able to catch a disk being stuck and investigated what was locking it. I found that is was two Windows processes involved with an explorer log file being left open. I doubt MS will fix this. My work around is that I will write a C program to use diskpart to dismount and mount the disk. I believe that will work without risk of data loss. My manual testing has worked every time. There are more than three methods on the web but none of them work for me. None of the sysinternals apps helped. Thank you for the reply.
Happy Holidays
