So I made the stupid mistake of leaving my 1tb WD Elements HDD in when I restored my old laptop - still can’t believe I did it! Have not lost all hope - the data that was on it does seem to still be there but the software I’ve tried only allows recovery of 1 or 2GB before you have to purchase a version. My drive has over 500GB on it so I’m looking for free data recovery software that would allow me to retrieve it all. All and any help/advice is HUGELY appreciated, thanks.
Some Users in the Community have had success using PhotoRec and TestDisk. Try a board search for those terms and see if you can find a tutorial. Other than that, I’d recommend contacting a professional data recovery service company.
