I have a Passport Ultra 4TB and everything was working fine for a year. Then the transfer rate would be normal around 60MB/s for a short time then stay at 1-4MB/s forever. I did a full check with the WD utility which takes 1 day and no problems are found. I did a full drive defrag which took 1 day which did not fix it. I did a quick format with the Windows built-in formatter and still the problem is not fixed. The problem was finally fixed when I used the WD Drive Utilities app and did a Drive Erase. Why do I have to do this to fix the transfer rate problem? Will I have to do this again once some time passes or the drive gets full?
