NFTS Passport Drive won't accept more than 4gb

My Passport Drive 25E1 USB Device has stopped accepting more than 4gb of backup files. It worked for a while to accept more than 4gb but now tells me to reformat the drive when I reach that limit even though the drive is formatted as NFTS. I’m using Win 7.
