Newbie Q: Restoring files onto another computer

My computer crashed and I need to pull the files from my Passport backup disk (used the WD backup software).  Any problems if I just pull in the drive into the other computer and then I assume that I have to install the software on the new computer?

Thanks for quick response.  I forgot to mention that the computer that I will be using to pull the files off is another computer.  The computer that was being backed up with the Passport is history!
