Need to run SmartWare to sync?

Hello out there.

I have a question for my recently bought WD external hard drive, I hope you can help me with.

Do I need to run SmartWare or an other WD programme to make the external hard drive synchronise the files I want to backup? Or will it happen automatically (when I have order the settings to do so), regardless of the programme is running or not?

No one else has answered, so I’ll give my non-expert answer. I think it’s the Smartware program that does the automatic backing up. I don’t know of another way to do it.
