Hi My macbook died , and ive replaced it with a windows 8 laptop. I have two mypassports for macs that show up on devices on the windows 8 laptop but do not show up in mycomputer so I can click through and read the contents of the drives. I dont want to reformat the drives to windows as ill lose everything on them. Ive looked everywhere on the net and ive downloaded the drives from the WD website but noone seems to have an answer and it still doesnt mount I cant remember what format the mypassport for mac hard drives were originally formatted in, but does anyone have a solution?

If the drives are formatted for Mac then the Windows computer will not recognize it. Windows is not able to read Mac format. In order to use it on the Windows computer you will need to format them for Windows. Note that this will delete everything from the drives.
