MyBook/Time Machine Back up error

I purchased MY Book 10T external storage for my Mac. But have been this error message: “Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder”

This is my second unit in two weeks. I took the first one back to Best Buy because of the same issue.

Thoughts?

Hi,

Are you saying that Mac is unable to make your MY Book 10T a time machine? Or the device is already a Time Machine device but failing to do it’s first backup?
