Mybook Pro II Recovery Problems

Hi there,
I have been using a Mybook Pro 2 for quite some time, confident that if I had a problem I could recover the data because I’m using a mirrored raid setup.
It stopped showing up in Windows 7 Explorer, and when I finally looked into it, I found that disk B showed a status of “Faulty”. I looked up the instructions for rebuilding it. Not long before, I had replaced an internal 500G WD drive with a larger one, so I did a full format on that one, popped it in, and waited for it to rebuild. It didn’t. I plugged it into USB, and WD RAID Manager showed Drive B with a status of “No Config”.
Reading some of the posts here, I decided I needed to replace it with a drive that was identical to Drive A. I managed to find one on Amazon, popped it in, and it behaved as described in the instructions. (Blue rings moving clockwise while rebuilding.)
After awhile, it stopped doing that, so I plugged it into USB. After that I couldn’t get any indication that my machine could see it on the USB port.
I connected it with fire wire and It gave me a message that there was a problem. WD RAID Manager showed Drive B with a status of “No drive”.
I’m about to pop the case one more time and make sure the power/SATA cable is conneded securely. I thought it was when I put it back together…
Any thoughts are more than welcome. I would really like to recover the data on the drive, as this all came up with no warning…

Hi there,

I have not tried this, but lets see if another user can share some information or tips on this matter.
