My WD hard drive is appearing but when i access it freezes my comoputer

Hi guys I tried disk management option to access the external my computer freezes but when i remove the hard drive it recovers speed.when i try right clicking it loads for a very a long time.I never dropped it ,It was working fine.I tried downloading WinDlg_v1_31 diagnoses and run as administrator but after i accept the options it also freezes and when i remove it it works fine. I have tried inserting it on a different PC it still does the same thing. please advise as to further steps of troubleshooting thayt can be done I need the data to be recovered

Hi,
This could be due to USB cable defective causing reduced PC voltage and slowing down the processor. Try a different cable.
