My WD external disk (2TB) doesn't work

Hi!

I have some problems with my WD Essential 2TB disk. I connect it to my computer but I can´t  read the files. The light flicks but althought I wait for a time it doesn´t work.

What is the problem?

It worked all right until the computer collapsed while I was trying to copy a file.

(Sorry for wrong expressions. I’m not a native English speaker, thanks.)

Hello, for troubleshooting, connect the USB cable directly to the computer and the power cable directly to the wall socket. You can also go to the disk management window to see the my book is recognized there.

Hello Alucardx23,

I tried to access to my external disk with the Disk Management, but it didn’t work.

This is the Disk Management message:

Disk 1 (unknown)

1862,99 GB

Not assigned

I have similar problem.

The computer is not able to show up the hdd drive.

Disk management sometimes can and simetimes can not detect the hdd.

At one occassion, when disk management detected the hdd, windows explorer started to show the hdd drive.

Take longer to assess the hdd.

When manage to enter into the hdd drive, all the folders can be seen.

But when click on the folder name, the computer prompt me I/O errors.
