My Passport with Windows 8

How to I get WD My Passport to pop up on new Windows 8

Does it show in Disk Management and does it have a letter assigned?

I’m having the same issue on two seperate win 8.1 machines.  The drive just blinks, sometimes it has a solid light though.  The blink is coincident with a buzz sound as the drive starts to spin and stops.

It works fine on a win 7 machine.

I’ve installed the ses driver, which helped slightly on one box, but didn’t solve the issues.

Without the ses drivers, disk manager doesn’t see it.  No drive present.  With the ses manager, it does see a drive but doesn’t show any size info.  Just lists an empty/blank device.  It’s not initialized so no drive letter.

It’s going back if you can’t help.  I’d recommend anyone with win 8 stay clear.  Just saying.

MS with Windows 8 and Apple with Maveric apparently did a very poor job of testing for compatibility with existing hardware. I see some people with Windows 8 are unable to 8.1 because of hardware issues. You might try updating all important drivers like chipset. motherboard and the like from the manufacer’s site. Check the USB drivers and controlers also.
