Using the USB version of the Ultra with my Macs, both of which are running OSX Sierra. I’d like to have the Ultra connected all the time, and since both of my computers are laptops I’d like to set it up as a network drive. Our AT&T-supplied router has a USB port but it isn’t compatible. Would connecting it to a wireless access point work? If not, any suggestions other than replacing the drive with the wireless version? TIA.
Use a NAS.
Yeah, again, I’m hoping there’s a solution that doesn’t involve replacing the drive.
My Passport Ultra for macOS is formatted HSF+.
What is meant by “isn’t compatible”?
What Make and Model is the AT&T supplied router?
Does it support HSF+? If not, reformatting is an option. IE: NTFS
What capacity is the My Passport Ultra? It’s possible the routers USB port doesn’t have enough power to spin up a large capacity drive.
The router is a Motorola NVG589. According to the manual, this is a limited-use port for charging cell phones and the like. It is not set up for connecting devices like hard drives, so the capacity and file format aren’t in play here.
