Welcome to the Community,

Is your router detecting the hard drive but no content, or not detecting the hard drive at all?

its detecting the drive as a ‘volume’ but no media is found within it, soon as i plug into my mac, i see all the media on the drive.

If so, then try to confirm if the Mac files system (HFS+) is compatible with the router. Otherwise you may have to format the hard drive to FAT32 or NTFS (Windows).

excuse my noobness, but would it be possible to format it to FAT32, and still use it with my mac to load with media?

Yes, albeit with some restrictions like being unable to use Time Machine or store files larger than 4GB.

My router, TP-LINK N600 did NOT support HFS+ re fortted to FAT32 and now working, thank you for the help, and i hope this thread helps somebody else in the future.

Any time.
