My passport 1 TB can I set a time for my backup

when I looked online for this info it said that I could set a time for it to back up so as not to have it plugged in all the time but can not find anything in the on screen manual. Please can someone help.

Thread moved to WD Software as this is a feature of WD SmartWare instead of a feature offered by the WD Passport itself.

This is something I an answer.

If you have WD SmartWare 2.0 (Or later) installed in your system (Windows-only), then the option to switch backup frequency modes and have the option to select your own time frame schedule will be located to the lower-left of the “Backup” screen.

If needed, you can update WD SmartWare to the most recent version for free at:

Regards,

Thanks Trancer, I clicked on Switch to Category Backup in the lower left of the screen and next is says, you are about to change the default backup plan for the currently selected drive/partition. If you continue, only the files selected backup plan will be backed up. This is only two weeks old, I don’t think I will need an update just yet or do I. Re look at it tomorrow, cheers.

The “Set Frequency” and the “Switch Backup” buttons are side-by-side on WD SmartWare 2.0. If you only see the “Switch Backup” button then it means an update should be made to enable the schedule feature.

Hi Trancer, sorry my fault it’s a WD SmartWare 3.0.

I read through it all last night and couldn’t find anything so maybe I have read it wrong. I will look for updates and see, been so busy installing other software to continue to work.
Appreciate your time.
Regards,
Nicola.
