I have a 1TB My book that is use for game storage on my Xbox One, the drive was working fine before i powered down the console, the next time i came to use the Xbox the drive would not show.
I tried several usb 3.0 cables, tried the power cable from my other My Book, tried usb 2.0 micro usb cables, I connected it to my laptop via usb 3.0 running Windows 10, the drive wouldnt show in Windows unless it is re-formatted from being used with the Xbox, in Disk Management the drive says it is offline and not initialised, when i try to initialise the disk (which is what i would normally do after using a drive with my Xbox for game storage) it says “The specified disk is not convertible because the size is less than the minimum size required for GPT disks.”
It also says there is 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free.
At this point i though hdd failure, I took the drive out of the housing and put it in another usb 3.0 case, and the drive was recognised instantly on Windows i ran HD Tune Pro to find the drive is 100% healthy, So back to the My Book PCB, which is clearly the issue at this point, i tried a 2.5” 500gb WD Black drive with the pcb which did the exact same thing in Windows but worked fine connected to another pcb, same results with a 3.5” 1.5TB Seagate Barracuda.
Non of the WD Discovery apps recognise any of the drives connected via the pcb, WDFirmware claims its up to date with its FW.
Does anyone have a solution?
