My Book Essential Edition 2.0 1 TB Not showing up as an external drive on my PC

Hi,

My Book (details above) no longer shows up as an external drive on my PC across all USB ports.

Can anyone suggest any solutions?

Repurr,

Is your disk drive detected in Microsoft Windows Disk Management? If so, does it detect unallocated space, or a raw partition? Instructions for accessing Disk Management are available in the following link:

Thanks for your note.

I can’t see the drive at all in the computer page on explorer.

Also if I have the drive connected when I turn the PC on, it hangs before the microsoft welcome page (with user details).

If I plug it in when the PC is on, it freezes the PC

On my laptop (which is running windows 7, the disc is visible on the computer page but shows as having no data on it and asks for the discs to be formtted.

Needless to say the Drive does have a lot of data on it and keen to extract it asap.

I have tried the WD data diagnositcs tool (downloaded from the product page on WD) which does not pcik up the drive.

Apprieciate your thoughts
