My Book Essential 2TB Can't Update Firmware

After building a new PC I’ve been fighting with getting my 2TB My Book Essential to function properly (permissions issue and then not recognized by the pc).  I’ve got it working correctly now but it is not recognized in Smartware and I can’t update the firmware (it really needs a firmware update).  I have an older My Book 1TB and it works completely fine and shows up in Smartware.  Any suggestions?

Try running a diagnostic on the drive using WD DLG to determine its health.
