My Book Duo using Thunderbolt port?

I have a WD My Book Duo enclosure (2x2Tb RAID1 (mirrored) setup), and was wondering if there would be any speed benefit in adding a USB-A to USB-C adapter to the USB cable and plugging it into one of the Thunderbolt ports on my Mac? Would that increase data transfer speed beyond using the USB3 port?
