Dear Western Digital,
My 1tb passport, WD10TMVW-11ZSMS1 is locked, but i never set a password for it.
I use a western digital passport (portable external) harddrive, and have been using it for quite a while, never with any complications, i was reallly impressed at how fast data transfer was, and how slick and convienient the design was, i think ill probably rate the passport as the best designed portable external harddrive on the market, cause of its simplicity.
But one day, i came home and it said i was to enter a password, this was strange, since noone had access to my drive, and i set no such password. i had 560GB of information and data that i was using to create a site for my family’s business company, but the drive was locked, and i cudnt access it. i was upset that this had happend so suddenly, and then i realised after trying a number of serials on the harddrive itself, and inside of the harddrive which i saw after remoing the shell. But i was left with no other choice, i had to delete the files and reuse the drive from scratch. I had no backup of these files, (stupid of me), but i was willing to restart everything :). but i encountered 1 more problem. i clicked drive erase, and the 60 second timer started. At about 2 seconds to go, it said ‘There has been an error erasing ur drive.’
this reallly got me crazy cause i had already deleted everything, which was assured because while hovering over the WD icon in the Taskbar, it said, Used 0%, Locked Yes. And i wanted to access the empty drive to restart the building of the massive website. and its still locked, hence i still will be unable to access my drive. My biggest concern, and the reason i posted this was to ask,
IS THERE A MASTER PASSWORD THAT CAN BE USED TO ACCESS THE DRIVE, OR IS THERE A LINK U COULD GIVE ME THAT WOULD PROVIDE ME WITH WAT I NEED TO ACCESS MY DRIVE?
if there are please help me, i am a WD customer in dire need of assistance.
Yours Gratefully,
Sachin Panday.
