I have had my WD My BOOK connected to my home network. However I would like to connect it directly to my PC instead and continue to use it as a “backup” drive. But regular ethernet cable connection does not seem to do it. The drive does not show up in Windows (10) and the boot is extremely slow. I read on some forums that one needs a “Crossover Ethernet cable” to do that. Has anyone tried to move a My Book external drive from a Network to a PC? I run Windows 10 (up to date) and connected the WD via a regular Ethernet cable.
