As well as backing up my computer and laptop, what is the procedure if the computer or laptop fails to the point of replacement? Will the software recognise that (when the new computer or laptop is plugged into it) and give the option of placing the backup files in the new computer? I hope it never happens, but good to know what to do if it ever happens! Thanks.

The WD Smartware software has an option to restore the files back to the computer. If is a new computer, it’s recommended to restore the files to an specific folder since the directories wont be the same as the old computer.
