Micro SDHC support on clip+ - is there any?

And I’ve got 3 other devices, all capable of using Micro SDHC cards that don’t have the slightest issue with the cards I’ve tried in my clip+ (which is only a couple of weeks old, I might add, and was bought new, from Amazon (and Amazon themselves, not a marketplace seller)).

Since you’ve only had the clip+ for a couple of weeks, you can return/exchange it at Amazon.  If you are that dissatisfied with the player, you can still get a refund.

But… I regularly read and / or contribute to countless forums for countless different types of techology / device. Several of which use Micro SD cards (sat navs / GPS, mobile phones, tablet computers etc). And out of all of those devices, and several years of usage, I’ve never encountered a device that has exhibited so many issues with memory cards - I’ll qualify that by saying I was quite puzzled, when I encountered issues using several Micro SDHC cards on my clip+ - and that’s when I first started searching, both here, and on the abi clip / clip+ forums, and was suprised at the number of posts / threads of people saying the same thing.

And this isn’t the normal issues you can have with memory cards / flash memory - it sometimes going wrong / bad, or the media itself starting to fail - this is never having worked for people in the first place.

Well, this is certainly news to me.  I have always thought that, from reading forums like anythingbutipod and forums.sandisk.com, generally, the Clip+ is compatible with microSDHC cards and that in cases where the user experiences problems, it was likely due to things like a lemon Clip+, a lemon card, a counterfeit card, user error, etc.  If there is a widespread agreement that the Clip+ is incompatible with microSDHC cards, you can be sure that the Clip+ would not be one of the most recommended MP3 players at anythingbutipod.

Don’t take my word for it - you search here, and on the abi clip / clip+ forums and read the number of posts / threads, of people having fundamental compatiblity issues - and indeed I’m sure I’ve read there’s some grudging acceptance by Sandisk that there are issues with Micro SD / SDHC card compatiblity with the clip+ - and compare that with forums discussing other devices that use memory cards - and aside from normal issues with media / media going bad - you tell me there’s not something up.

For the Clip Zip, SanDisk says that “some brands and types of microSD cards are not recognized by device.”  I am not aware of SanDisk making a similar claim with the Clip+.  Please provide a link.

The Sansa never sleeps.  It may sit there with its display turned off, but if you remove / reinstall a microSD card while off, the little guy should recognize that a card change has occurred.

With the card removed again, upon power up, you should get the refresh database message.

With a problematic microSD card, you can try mounting the card with the device ON, and see if the card is recognized and whether the Sansa scans it for available music.

Check the card via your PC, using a reader, to see if you can transfer a single music file to the card, then try loading the card in the player.  I have read that you have formatted the card.

It’s possible that the Clip may have a problem with the intenal card reader.  If so, it is covered under warranty.  Calll 1-866-SANDISK for assistance in this case.
