I recently purchased the WD Elements 2TB External Hard Drive to use as extra storage for my Lenovo M10 FHD Android Tablet. The tablet supports OTG, I have tested with USB sticks and it works perfectly. Format the hard disk in EXFAT and FAT32 and in both formats it does not recognize it. In the file manager and VLC detects the hard disk, but does not read anything that is inside, it remains as “loading”. The hard drive makes strange noises for about 2-3 minutes and then quiet. What is the error and how can I fix it? Thanks a lot. A greeting.
was gonna suggest posting on the Lenovo Forum … but i see you already did that
Is the 2TB WD Elements a USB Portable hdd or a Deskstop hdd ? … i’m assuming it’s a USB Portable
The Lenovo probably doesn’t have power on the OTG port to power a USB 3.0 (5V 900mA) Mechanical Spinning Hard Drive.
2 Things to try … plug the charging adapter into the Lenovo, and then connect the hard drive.
or
Plug the USB Portable into a AC Powered USB Hub and connect the hub via OTG
Other things …
use MBR Partition Table instead of GPT which the drive is factory partitioned as.
And look for any option on the Lenovo that says use as a Mass Storage Device.
Conclusion…
If none of that works, then i have no idea. I guess you’re stuck with using USB Sticks.
