I own 8 different WD Elements external drives from the 500GB version up to the largest 3TB model. I have been waiting for a 4TB version to come out since WD announced that capacity drive. Any chance WD will tell us when such a product will be available?
I am completely happy with the USB 2.0 interface, but I agree with others here that it would be nice to upgrade it to USB 3.
i’ve been using these drives for 4-5 years with no failures and I am a strong WD supporter.
Just an update over 10 months since my initial posting. I was STILL waiting for WD to release an Elements product at 4TB, but here we are still stuck at a max of 3TB. I can no longer wait for WD to stop sitting on its hands. I have been patient and read reviews of the MyBook and MyCloud products that are now at 4TB, and none of them match the simplicity of the Elements line. I also reviewed the Seagate 4TB products and decided to go with the Seagate Backup Plus which is 4TB. $149 from Amazon. USB 3.0 straight out of the box with the ability to buy adapters to make it Firewire and/or Thunderbolt compatible. Hello WD, do you not perform market analysis? If WD ever releases a 4TB Elements product, I’ll be coming back to WD, but for now, WD has pushed me to become a Seagate customer.
