language lock out

I have a new sandisk sansa clip+ which I was loading with music. Somehow I changed the  text on the program window  to Japanese .

The help page gives instructions to change the text back to English but the instructions cannot be followed because NO ENGLISH TEXT ever comes up in scrolling through the menus. Everything is in Japanese letters. How do I get out of this loop?

Look for the Settings icon. It looks like an equalizer with slider controls on it.

Press Select (center button).

Press Down button 3 times. This is System Settings.

Press Select.

Press Down button 3 times. This is Language.

Press Select.

Top option is English. Press Select again.
