SMC is used for the final step of any conversion to the Sansa Fuze. Sometimes you have to use another converter to get your video into a format SMC will accept.
There are people who have used WinAvi to do this final conversion step. Search for WinAVI, if your curious.
Sansa may change the Fuze’s firmware in the future to accept other video formats to get away from being dependant on SMC, we hope they do 
There is a formum dedicated to SMC under sansa Community. If you need help converting anything, ask, its not always an easy process.
