I have an Extreme PRO SD Card USB-C Reader & 2 x USB-C sockets on my PC. 9 times out of 10 this card reader won’t connect/display the SD card (any SD card) regardless of whether I’m using both USB-C ports or just the 1. I only seem to have the issue with this card reader & not other USB-C hardware. I’ve tried putting a converter on it to connect to USB-A & again it seems very flaky.
Would the card reader have a driver & if so is there a way of updating it? Or are there any other tips to get the reader working?

Based on your description: the Extreme PRO SD Card USB-C Reader consistently failing to connect (even with multiple SD cards and USB-C/USB-A ports), while other USB-C devices work normally, updating or resintalling drivers is structured troubleshooting approach.
To updated drives via Device Manager:
Press Win + X > Device Manager > Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click USB Mass Storage Device or your reader (may appear under Disk drives) > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
If Windows finds no updates, visit SanDisk’s official support site, search for your reader’s model, and download the latest Windows-compatible driver. Install manually via “Browse my computer for drivers” in Device Manager.
To reinstall driver:
In Device Manager, right-click the device > Uninstall device > Check “Delete the driver software” > Reconnect the reader to trigger a fresh driver install.
