How can I tell if my backups are up to date?

Sorry about this one but I’m just returning to using backups for my documents etc. and need a little information.

I’ve had a WD My Passport Essential ticking away in the background for some years and realised that I’ve not checked to see that it is keeping a nice up to date backup for me! Maybe I’m worrying about something that I don’t need to but it would be nice to know.

How can I easily dip into what is stored on the My Passport device to see if it has added recently updated material? Can I review what it stores to see if it is what I want and also see if there is duplicated or unnecessary material on there?

Hello,

Depending on the backup software that you are using, you should be able to see the status of your backup.

If it’s the WD Smartware, you should see that on the backup tab and it will show the same amount of files on both columns.

Thanks for the reply to my post. Yes, both columns, the one for my PC and the one for my WD Smartware show the same amount of data so all looks to be well. Is it possible to look at an individual file on my WD device?
