Help to access my older WD10000H 1U-00 external hard drive backup

I have not used my external drive to backup my computer for awhile and now that computer has bit the dust and I’m trying to open it to see if I saved any of my files that are important. I’m not sure if I need a driver on my new laptop (only 1 year old) to be able to open this external drive. My new laptop is a windows laptop.

I’ve tried to find a driver, but am wary that it could have malware. Your help is appreciated.
