Yes, I’ve done it. I have forgotten the password for my W.D. 1 T External Drive.
I have therefore been obliged to delete the original software that came with the drive.
I have looked at the instruction P.D.F. that came with the product, in particular:
‘To do this, after you have erased or reformatted the drive, go to http://support.wdc.com and see Knowledge Base answer ID 7. Managing and Customizing the Drive My Passport.’ but I cannot find that page.
I THINK I know where to find a download to restore the original software, but I am not 100% sure.
Will someone please help me with:
a) A copy of the link to the download for my Windows 10 p.c.
b) Tell me if, with ‘My Passport’ attached to the p.c., the download will be routed to the external drive or will I have to ‘send’ it from the p.c. to the external drive.
I may well have to ask a supplementary question on the topic in due course…
