Gapless? Yes or No?

Hey,

Just got off a chat with SanDisk. I was trying to figure out if the Sport supports gapless playback. The chat was hugely confusing, and I feel like the agent didn’t actually understand what I was trying to figure out. I was told at one point that the Sport supports gapless, however, the agent was clearly confused as to what that was. Can anyone definitively answer this question for me?

I loved the Clip+, and had no issues with gapless on that device. Live and studio albums would play tracks with no gaps like they were meant to. I was listening to a live album on the Sport this weekend, and I was disturbed by gaps. Reminded me of my old iPod from ten years ago…

Thanks!

I don’t think Sandisk has ever made a player with gapless, and I doubt the sport is the first.

the sport does not support gapless playback

SanDisk should instruct their chat agents to not literally say “Yes, the Sport supports gapless playback,” then!

I’m gonna have to return this thing and buy another Clip+ so I can listen to live albums where songs run together with no interruption, again…

I think bringing out the Sport model was the smartest thing SanDisk could do to spur/increase sales of the their Clip+ and Zip models.

Too bad they have to eat so many returns of the Sport in order to achieve those positive sales percentages of the other players though.

Sadly in my town (Zurich, Switzerland) the Clip Zip isn’t available in shops anymore («sold out»); the Clip+ still is, but how long… These days most stores only carry the Sport – as only SanDisk player.
