I wish to set the shuttle 8 back to factory settings to set up the raid as raid 5 but when looking at the wizard all options are greyed out and therefore you cannot chose anything what so ever. Please could someone advise what you have to do to get the wizard options to be selectable. I have opened the lock but that doesn’t do anything. Is there anything you have to do to the shuttle in other settings so you can see the wizard menu and select things?.
@Wayne10000 This article should help resolve your issue.
Will the above deletion of the current disc array allow me to run the wizard or do you have to delete both disc array and logical drive to see the wizard sections selectable?.
I’d like to access the wizard section to allow the shuttle to set this up itself if I delete disk array will the greyed out items in wizard be viewable and selectable once more as currently they are not please
@Wayne10000 you will need to delete both the Disk Array and the Logical Drive before the Wizard will be able to create a new RAID as outline in the article.
Thanks for the reply appreciated , so after that I’ve got to leave it for whatever hours to synchronise before Adding any items. Do I have to leave my Mac attached to the thunderbolt while it does this or can I disconnect the MacBook Air
An active connection to the computer is needed for the RAID process to complete. During the RAID build process, the drives will mount on the Desktop and you can add files to it, however, there will be 30% or more performance hit until the RAID process has completed.
I may try it on my Mac Mini as I don’t really want to leave my new laptop on for 4 days solid or however
It takes to do 96TB
I have managed to run the wizard after deleting the logical drive and disk array as you correctly advised thanks for that, it is now doing the synchronisation could I ask is it possible to continue the sync on a second Mac after disconnecting from the MacBook Air please?. Will it continue on another computer ?.
An active connection to the computer is needed so you cannot disconnect, reboot, power off, or allow it to go into sleep or standby mode until the process has completed.
Thanks i have read elsewhere on the G speed area that the synchronisation will restart from were it left off if you power down .
I have left the computer powered up all evening yesterday and it was at 60% this morning. So is it true that if you disconnect the raid it will go back to 0% synchronised or do you have to reset it yourself thanks.
I appreciate you answering these queries very kind
