Has anyone else tried the latest model of G-RAID, the “SanDisk Professional G-RAID MIRROR”? We recently bought three for a shoot and two of them were duds. One would be really slow, as in, it would idle for a long time before performing any operation to it (formatting, copying files, also transferring at ~250 Mbps even in RAID 0 mode), and the other just recently locked up (“macOS cannot repair the disk…”).
This isn’t the first time we’ve had G-RAIDs dead (or almost dead) on arrival, but two in one batch is a helluva bummer. Has anyone else been experiencing QC issues with this model? Are there any preemptive solutions?
FWIW they all arrived RAID 1 and formatted APFS, which we switched to RAID 0 macOS Journaled (HFS+). Have the 24TB (2 x 12TB) models.
Alternatively, are any of the other competitors’ dual drive RAIDs a better buy these days? (Considering LaCie 2big, OWC Gemini, Glyph BlackBox Pro…)
