I am using WD my passport .
Yesterday I tried to create 3 partitions( Ubuntu OS) on external drive using fdisk command . By mistake I started "full " format, I cancelled the same and I opted for quick format option(mkfs.ntfs -f /Dev/sdc1). The drive is still working fine with Linux OS. No issues here.
Now when I plugged it in Windows 7 , the drive is not getting mounted /drives are not showing up,. though ntfs partition is being recognised by “disk management” utility. After I manually assign letter to drives using disk management utility , I am able to use WD disk on win7.
Then , I plugged same extrnal drive in win 10. Neither I am able to use the drive, not able to format. Type of file system is not being recognised by “disk management” utility.
I have started full format on Windows 7. I hope this would fix the issue.
Summary -
Linux - able to use
Windows7 - after manually assigning drive letters - able to format & use.
Win10 - unable to format/mount.
Please help.
