Firmware update

I have a Passport Essential/465GB/firmware 1.003 running Vista SP 2.

Have been trying to update the Firmware and get the message The application has encountered an unexpected error and is now exiting.

Have downloade the firmware from WD site and what now.

if the drive is not having any problems stop updating an leave as is

is you still want to update make sure to

  • disable antivirus
  • disable firewall
  • unlock the drive

I’m in the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” group when it comes to these firmwae updates. If it’s working OK don’t bother with it.
