[Finally new firmware released][SN850X] The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort0

I disabled it and i will report it again the results again the coming days.

No firmware update yet ? My windows 11 boot randomly and i think due to this error.

Just want to report in that I’ve also spotted these errors from my Windows event viewer. It’s kind of annoying to see the red error event appeared on a newly build system everyday.

hi, after you disable Freesycn, this BSOD issue is gone?

Nope i still did had crashes after i disabled Freesync. However i was able to solve the issue to some degree. I dont have any crashs anymore but i still do get the errors in my eventlogs.

After i disabled Freesync and still had crashes, i was doing some more research and then i realized that i activated XMP in the BIOS. I disabled it and now i dont get any BSOD anymore but i still get the error in my eventlog.

I have to say im not 100% sure if this error caused the BSOD but after every BSOD i had, i saw this error just a few secs before.

Having the same problem. Error is: \Device\RaidPort2
The machine does crash/restart, no BSOD.

Some system info:
AMD ryzen 7950x,
B650 Tomahawk,
WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB (boot drive, win11),
WD_BLACK SN850 PS5 2TB (regular file storage) - this is the port 2 drive

Hi, how did you install this driver? Can’t seem to find a download for the driver. I am having the same issue where I get this error code every reboot. My pc also restarts after a couple hours of gaming, think this is a gpu issue tho so want to eliminate a ssd issue by getting this error code away.

I’m using this one since November 2022. There is still no firmware update….

Do I need to do something special with the download? Or just download it in to a folder then update my driver?

You need to force install the nvme driver because it’s not designed to install for SN850X.

Hi there, have tried to find some guide or help to how I proceed with force installing this new driver, but I can not find any help. Could you possibly do a quick guide on how?

Got it working. For anyone that is having the same problem this workaround seems to fix it untill they actually get a legit fix. download the mega file listed above in this thread and use the tutorial in this link if you are inexperienced with force downloading a driver as I am.

Hi there

Any suggestions, I literally just built my PC yesterday with 2 850X 2tb and was planning on installing windows 11. Do you I need to install this workaround driver somehow before installing windows?

Any suggestions on what I should do?

I installed the Micron latest driver and errors are gone. But, slow boot compared to Samsung 980

do you think I’m going to be able to install windows 11, being that its on the current version that has a problem with the 850X, do I need to somehow install the drivers before I install windows?

I have an SN850 non-X version. The only issue i have is random freezing for a micro second in games. loaded the Micron nvme driver and it makes my drive read speed drop to 5270mb/s from 7000mb/s

system
AMD 5600x
Asus Strig Rog B-550-a
32gb ddr 3600
WD_BLACK SN850 500GB - Boot
Adata XPG 8200 pro - Secondary

You can try other drivers (like Samsung). My 850X still has 7000+ mb/s so I didn’t test all drivers. Still wait for firmware update

I just got notice of a firmware update for my SN850X drive today.
Installed it via the WD dashboard app.

The lastest firmware update fixed the problem finally!

I was looking at buying a Sn850x but when I read that there was so many people having issues with bsod/crashes I got second thoughts.

So you have installed the latest firmware and reverted back to Microsoft’s default nvme driver and this got rid of the issue?

How long did it normally take to get the issue and did you get past this threshold?

Thanks.
