Issue with WD SN850X 1T

I purchased a WD SN850X 1TB around 45 days ago. Installed it in my system ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition, Ryzen 5700x3d. System ran okay for a few days then started giving random issues like stuck in games, windows acting laggy, delayed program starts and runs. So check event viewer to find “Event 7, Disc and said The device, /device/HardDisk1/DR1, Has a bad block.” so I sent it for RMA and got a new SSD. It was running find till today morning and again I had system issues so I checked event viewer and yet again it showed the same error. How can a ssd fail so soon. I also have another WD SN580 2TB installed as secondary drive and it’s running fine. Also the SN850X only runs on PCI-E Gen4 x2 lanes no matter what I do on the fiedr nvme slot ie. CPU driven slot. Am at my wits end as this means I have to RMA the drive again and reinstall windows. Not sure what else to do and fix this issue and why it’s occurring.

Get the WD SSD toolkit which will update the firmware

I loaded the WD Dashboard and the firmware is updated to the latest version. I had done that with the original drive too which i had to RMA.

It suggests that you may need to check the SSD close for firmware ASAP with a new one

I ran chkdsk by rebooting. Now after the reboot the system is running fine without any event viewer errors. So not sure what is hapenning.

usually chkdsk only comes up with a crash or cold shutdown

i ran chkdsk c: /f /r . where it asked me to run it on reboot as volume was locked. no errors found. also wd dashboard i ran the tools disk test. it failed the long test once. but after reboot and everything it ran the test and succeeded.

Maybe you should install Windows 11 24H2 fresh
