Whenever I try to download any files on my USB Dual Flash Drive, it either gives me a “File write error” or a “Not enough memory” error. It’s an authentic drive, I know that because I activated the warranty. Plus, I tried using a software that makes files to fill up the drive until it cannot receive / store them and it stored over 50GB which is more than most of the files that keep giving me these errors. Is there any specific reason for this? Is there a fix?
Normally this happens with the file system is FAT32 but the file size is larger than 4GB. Suggest to reformat the drive to NTFS or exFAT instead.
It can also happen if the drive is slipping into read only mode because of a failing memory cell or a controller glitch. Just plug the drive into a different USB port, then open its Properties and check if the Read only attribute is stuck under Tools > Error checking. Run a quick scan to fix any file system corruption. If the scan reports bad sectors or refuses to clear the read only state, the drive is starting to fail and it is better to back up your data and replace it before it becomes completely unusable.
