My passport ultra external hard drive is not accessible in any laptops, due to error “driver software is not successfully installed” error. How to resolve this?

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the USB ports?
This unit is a plug and play drive and it should be detected on most of the computer.
What OS are you running? is the OS up to date.?

I have tried reinstalling the driver several times, but it failed. I am using windows 7 both 32 & 64 bit laptops, but in both this has failed. OS is up to date. I am using My passport ultra 3.0 external drive.
