Does Wddriveutilitieshelper.exe need to always run to keep the drives from going into sleep mode?

I installed WD Drive Utilities so I could make it so my WD external drives don’t go into sleep mode. Now I see that I have two processes, WDDriveUtilitiesHelper.exe and WDDdriveservice.exe as well as a service, WDDriveService always running, using resources. Is it necessary to keep these running to keep my drives from going into sleep mode? Can I uninstall WD Drive Utilities completely and it will still stop them from going into sleep mode?

Hi there,

You can try to uninstall WD utilities to see if this works, however, if there is a software that has access to the drives all the time, the drives should not go to sleep.

I did uninstall and it keeps working. Thank
