Just bought a WD My Passport Wireless 1TB a few days ago. The Rebuild button for the Media Count has always been greyed out. I’ve tried to rebuild the DLNA Database, which did not make any difference, including reset the system. Other than that, everything else seems working fine.
The option will remain unavailable until the unit is able to build a base library. Based on the screen capture your unit is still scanning. This process can take hours depending on total file count.
It’s been running for more than a day! I’ve also tried a system reset by clicking the System & Disk button, which wiped out all the data including the pre installed files. It started fine with a solid button (scan activity: idle), and was fine initially when copying files to the device (I could see the button became solid occasionally). But after copied around 5000 photos and video, the button never came solid again, meaning scanning the image files constantly.
It seems the issue is that if there is any corrupted or unrecognised photo or video files, the device will get into this infinite loop of building image file process.
You can see the media file counts are different between the DLNA and Media Count sections.
Edit: After waited for a while, the button has finally become solid😅 Case closed. Thanks, Trancer🙏
