Cruzer Fit 32gb - Unable to copy files/format drive

Hi,

I’m hoping someone can give me some suggestions as to what I can do to resolve this.

Just bought the Sandisk Cruzer Fit 32gb to play music on my car stereo. I’m running Windows 8 64bit. Plug the device into the computer and it recognised the drive fine.

I start to drag and drop music folders to the drive and the computer told me that they are no longer in that location and it could not copy. This is not the case they are in the location I’m copying from and still play when selected. So I can only assume this is because of the flash drive.

So I then thought about formatting the drive, but it doesn’t respond, it’s also caused my computer to freeze up.

So I’m stuggling to actually do anything with this device. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  1. Formating is a dumb idea.  You should reinstall Windows instead.

Ok, now that I got that out of my system.

  1. Formating a new device is a useless idea unless it’s a new hard drive.

  2. What are you using to drag and drop, Windows Explorer?

  3. Whatever is giving you the error message is telling you the files you choose to drag are not where you think they are NOT where you are trying to drop them.

  4. Can you see the drive in Windows Explorer?  Can you see any files on it?

5.  I seem to recall an issue with some SanDisk drives and Windows 8, unfortunately I don’t remember what or the resolution.

I think this is a PC issue. Try to eliminate this my plugging this in on a different computer.
