Is the memory card inserted all the way? You’ll hear 2 faint clicks as it locks into place and the top of the card will be almost flush with the player’s casing.
If you go into Settings > System Settings > Info and scroll down does the card show as being recognized there? It will show the amount of available space both in the internal memory and the card separately.
