Clip 4 Gig availability?

I was told by someone at Best Buy, who seems to be in-the-know (buyer?), that they don’t have plans to carry the 4 Gig clip. She said that Sandisk is not currently selling this model to Best Buy & it is up to them when this changes. Maybe the limited supply is the reason? It seems to be available from several E-tailers.

Sorry, Just noticed that Amazon says “usually ships in 1 - 2 months”. Why don’t they go ahead & say that they don’t have it & may get it sometime in the future. I guess so people like me, who don’t read the fine print, will place an order.

I wonder if it couldn’t have something to do with Best Buys’ practise of including a CD-ROM with the Clips that they sell? -A CD that exists primarily for the purpose of tricking people into using a proprietary music download service- and, from what I’ve seen on other forums, has wreaked alot of havok with the Clip once people unwittingly install it on their computers. I wouldn’t blame SanDisk if they wanted to disassociate their product from such a practise…especially seeing as how that CD was causing alot of problems with people being able to load any other music files on the Clip, and tricking people into thinking that it was SanDisks software and necessary for the operation of the Clip…when in fact it was doing nothing but creating problems.

I wonder what stores the 4gb will be available in around here.  I live in an area of about 60000 people.  Maybe ordering online would be the best option.  Any ideas on how soon I would get the 4gb if I preordered on sandisk.com?

Amazon is already offering it for pre-order.

I’d wait though- never buy something the minute it hits the market- let everyone else be the guinea pigs till they get the bugs out. (Plus, things also tend to get cheaper after they’re out a while…not that the savings in this case would be enough to matter though)

You know, as far as getting the kinks out you’d think they had done that with the 1 and 2 GB versions…  This is just a memory upgrade after all!

Then, too- some people may like The Kinks…    [cymbal crash]

Sure, but you never know about the manufacturing process.  Maybe the 4GB version will be assembled in a factory where the workers are given only one bathroom break a day, instead of two.

In other words… very, very fast :stuck_out_tongue:
